Cooking and Gastronomy Tour
One of most popular tours at the Ecole des Trois Ponts, the Cooking and Gastronomy Tour may be presented either in English or in French.
Guests arrive on Sunday afternoon, and after settling in, begin their week of culinary delights with the first of several traditional French dinners.
On Monday morning the group travels to the fresh market in the village of Marcigny, where local vendors sell all types of local meats, cheeses, pastries, household items and clothing.
A visit to the world-famous Emile Henry cookware factory and a demonstration at the renowned oil-pressing workshop J. Leblanc Huilerie, rounds out the mornings activities.
After a buffet lunch at the Villa, guests begin the first of 4 half-day cooking classes with our instructional chef as they prepare the evening meal. Typical preparations include a starter course, main dish, and dessert during each class period with lots of hands-on participation.
Excursions during the rest of the week include:
Visit to a Cote Roannaise vineyard, with a tour and tasting provided by the winemaker
Demonstration at Pilati chocolate/pastry shop
Tour of local medieval villages
Instructional class in Wine and Cheese Pairing
A gourmet lunch at Chteau de Champlong
Program fees include accommodations, all meals, cooking classes and excursions.
The accompanying group leader is accommodated free of charge.
Perfect for community groups, universities, and business team-building programs.

The Cooking and Gastronomy Course at "Ecole des Trois Ponts" provides students of all ages with a varied program of hands-on cooking classes, educational day trips to local establishments and a greater understanding of French culture. As a Professor of Culinary Arts at the College of DuPage outside Chicago, I have led several groups on this tour, with participants who ranged in age from 18 to 65. Our hosts at the Villa always make our group feel at home with their welcoming and genuine hospitality. The warm and lively atmosphere promotes a sense of fun and relaxed learning. Students are given the opportunity to cook with a master French Chef, and each comes away with recipres to try out at home. Day excursions to local markets, vineyards, oil-pressing workshops, and an award-winning chocolatier expand the students' understanding of the beauty and bounty of the Roannaise region. Cheese classes, wine classes, and delicious meals at fine restaurants promote sensory learning experiences that could not be recreated anywhere else. Meals at the school are a particular treat with everyone gathered around the large dining room table exchanging stories from the day's activities. highly recommend the Cooking and Gastronomy Course for any group that is interested in broadening their horizons and sharing in a truly exceptional experience. Please feel free to contact me for any additional information.
