Eurostar: leave London Waterloo station at 8.40am, arrive at Lille 11.50am, change in Lille at 1.12pm, arrive at Lyon Part-Dieu station at 4.12pm, change in Lyon Part-Dieu station at 4.19pm, arrive in Roanne at 5.37pm. 516 miles. Take M20 to Channel Tunnel for Paris, follow direction Lyon-Autoroute du Soleil, follow A77 then N7 to Lapalisse and Roanne. Geneva to Lyon - follow signs to Lyon. When you pass St. Exupéry Airport (8 miles) follow Paris Peripherique Nord then Paris (green sign) N383 Peripherique toll Paris-Roanne green sign, after 3rd tunnel stick tight to the right, follow A6 Paris-Roanne, then N6 Villefranche-Roanne then D73 Clermont-Ferrand Roanne (73km) then N7 to Roanne. From Paris Roissy airport by Air A few airlines fly from Roissy to Lyon, check the prices when buying your flight ticket, sometimes the connecting flight Roissy-Lyon is almost free. From Paris Roissy Airport to Lyon to Roanne by Train If you are leaving from Roissy-Charles de Gaulle by direct TGV to Lyon Part-Dieu or Perrache Take free shuttle bus from Charles de Gaulle Terminal I (aérogare I) to Terminal II (aérogare II) and go to Charles de Gaulle Aérogare II TGV & RER train stations. TGV goes direct to Lyon Part-Dieu or Perrache. Trip takes 2 to 2.5 hours. From Lyon, take the regional train to Roanne. Train times from Charles de Gaulle airport by TGV to Lyon: 06.59, 10.05, 11.25, 13.13, 17.05, 18.46, 20.48. (Also occasional direct TGVs from Paris-Massy nearly Orly airport to Lyon.) Train from Lyon Part-Dieu station: You can check the timetable on http://www.sncf.com/indexe.htm as public holidays have timetables and Saturday timetables are different to the rest of the week.
The cost of the ticket Lyon-Roanne is about €12.50 for a single ticket or €25 for a return ticket. Trip takes 1 and a quarter to 1.5 hours. When you arrive in Roanne station, take taxi to the chateau. Price is about €12. If there are no taxis at the station when you arrive, call us on 04 77 71 53 00. From Roissy Airport to Central Paris 1) Take a taxi 2) Take the Roissy bus RATP No. 351 (Roissy to Paris from 6am to 11pm), shuttle bus from the Airport to Place de l'Opéra (rue Scribe, Paris 8ème). Departure every 15 minutes from aérogare 2, T9 or 1. Price for the ticket is about €6.10. Trip takes 45 to 60 minutes. 3) Take the Air France shuttle bus from the airport to Place de l'Etoile (avenue Carnot). Leaves from Terminal 1 porte 34/Terminal 2 hall C porte 2, hall B porte 2, hall F porte 007 every 15 minutes. Price for the ticket is about €9.91. Trip takes 30 minutes. 4) Take the "Roissy Rail" bus to Roissy Station and then take RER B to Paris. Different stops possible: Gare du Nord, Châtelet les Halles, St. Michel or Denfert Rochereau. 5) Bus-train connection (the cheapest way but cumbersome with heavy baggage). From Aéroport Roissy-Charles de Gaulle (Paris international airport) take free airport shuttle bus that leaves from Aérogare 1 arrival level 28, Aérogare 2A gate 5, Aérogare 2B gate 6 or Aérogare 2D gate 6. At Roissy train station, take the RER B3 train line to central Paris then take Metro to Paris-Gare de Lyon station. Price is about €6.86 (metro included). Leaves every 15 minutes from 5am to 12am midnight trip takes about 30 to 40 minutes. From Central Paris to Roanne by Train From Paris to Roanne by train you have three possibilities: 1) take TGV from Central Paris via Lyon Part-Dieu or Perrache stations to Roanne at: 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm. Paris to Lyon takes 2 hours. Total time from Paris to Roanne: 4 hours - when you arrive in Roanne take a taxi to the Chateau. Price is about €12. If there are no taxis at the station when you arrive, please call us on 04 77 71 53 00. 2) Train from Paris to Roanne via St. Germain des Fossés leaves at: 12.31pm, 6.57pm. Fast easy change of trains at St. Germain des Fossés for Roanne. Total time Paris-Roanne 4 hours. Cheaper and more scenic route than on the TGV train. 3) TGV from Paris to Roanne via Le Creusot-Montchanin TGV station leaves Paris at: 07.30, 18.00. Fast change after one and a half hours at Le Creusot for the TGV bus to Roanne. Follow signs out of the station for TGV bus. Buy the bus ticket WITH the TGV train ticket in Paris. Total time Paris-Roanne 3 hours. From Roissy Airport to Roanne by car 410km/255 miles: 4 hours 30 minutes Follow highway A3/E15 till Bagnolet,
Porte de Bagnolet follow Paris turn left to Porte de Montreuil then
Boulevard Peripherique 7km/4 Miles turn right to Lyon. follow Cachan at the
sign Aeroport Orly follow A6/E15 Autoroute du Soleil. From Central Paris to Roanne by car From Paris to Roanne: Takes 4 hours 15 minutes; 385km/239 miles. From Paris take Porte d'Orleans (N20 for 7kms), N186 for 1km to La Croix-de Berny; Fresnes on A86 for 1km direction Créteil, Aéroport d'Orly; A6 vers Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon for 1.5km, A10 towards Nantes, Bordeaux, Palaiseau, Massy, Etampes for 113km; (Orleans) A71 for 111km direction Orléans, Bourges, Limoges, Clermont-Ferrand; (Bourges) A71 for 108km Exit at Sortie 11 (Moulin, Montmarault..), D46 for 36km (Montmarault), N7 for 68km (Varennes-sur-Allier) to Roanne. From Lyon Airport to Roanne by Bus/Train Take the St. Exupéry airport Shuttle bus to Lyon Part-Dieu (or Perrache). Every 20 minutes from 5am to 11pm. From Lyon Airport to Roanne by car You can rent an automatic car with Avis at the airport but we recommend that if you can drive a manual then it's easier to pick that car up in Roanne. 120km from airport to Chateau de Matel in Roanne. To get from Lyon St. Exupéry Airport to Roanne by car: follow signs for Lyon on A43, then follow blue signs for Lyon on A43 Take "péripherique sud - téo" following signs for St. Etienne-Marseille. Continue to follow the green signs for St. Etienne-Marseille. Then follow the yellow signs for Paris-Gerland. Then follow A6 Paris-Roanne. Stick to right lane as you go under the overpass as you will veer right and keep following signs for Paris-Roanne. Follow green signs for Roanne on N7. and follow information schedule and then timetable To enlarge maps to print, click on one of the pictures above Coming from the North of Paris then heading south via Lapalisse - Moulins - Nevers Coming from Paris, take the A6 turnpike:motorway, follow signs “direction LYON”, the A77 turnpike/motorway, then the N7 highway (direction NEVERS). Follow the N7 to Roanne. You will drive through Moulins, Lapalisse, St Forgeux Lespinasse, St Germain Lespinasse.Then you will enter Mably. Drive straight ahead (follow signs for ROANNE) until you see the “Toyota” garage and the “Conforama” store on your right. Then you take the roundabout (“Mc Donalds” is on your left). Don’t follow the signs for ROANNE !!! Follow the signs for LYON / ST ETIENNE (N7). Here you will get onto a 4-lane road. Drive straight ahead (ignore exit 65!) and up onto the overhead bridge, then down the overhead bridge and immediately take exit 66 “ROANNE-PORT”. At the traffic lights, turn left and follow signs for “MATEL”. Take the right lane, keep on going straight ahead. You will pass the “DIAM Ultra”factory on your left, then the ”STAR” bus depot on your right. Continue straight ahead, you will see the SETIC Company on your right. Don’t turn right into rue Georges Mandel! Take the little road straight in front of you (called Allée du Chateau de Matel) with a no entry sign. Follow signs for ECOLE DES TROIS PONTS. Drive straight ahead for 100 metres along the alleyway of trees up to the “Chateau” entrance.
Coming from Lyon, take the N7 following
signs for PARIS / ROANNE. You will drive through L’Arbresle, Tarare, St
Symphorien de Lay, Neaux. After Neaux, keep on following the N7 up to a big
intersection. There, once again, follow signs for PARIS / ROANNE. The N7
becomes a 4 lane road. Drive straight ahead. Pass exits 68 and 67. After the
bridge over the Loire river, take exit 66 “ROANNE / MONTCEAU LES M.” Take
the right lane up to the traffic lights then turn right direction MATEL /
PARC DES SPORTS. Stay on the right lane.
You will pass the “STAR” bus depot on your right. Continue straight ahead until you see the SETIC Company on your right. Don’t turn right into rue Georges Mandel! Take the little road straight in front of you (called Allée du Chateau de Matel) with a no entry sign. Follow signs for ECOLE DES TROIS PONTS. Drive straight ahead for 100 metres along the alleyway of trees up to the Chateau's entrance. Coming from Clermont-Ferrand Coming from
Clermont-Ferrand, take the A72 turnpike/motorway following signs for LYON /
St ETIENNE. Ignore exit 5 “ROANNE par D8”; take the following exit for
ROANNE. There you take a short section of the future A89 freeway.
At the end of this section, turn left and take the N82
road for ROANNE. After Vendranges, keep on following the N82 up to a big
intersection. Take the ROANNE / PARIS direction.
There you get onto a 4-lane road. Drive straight ahead; pass exits 68 and
67. After the bridge over the Loire river, take exit 66 “ROANNE / MONTCEAU
